"It's raining. It's pouring." Everybody now ...

This topic on computer protection comes straight from our IT guys. Yeah, we let them out of their cubicles for their mandatory 10-minute social interaction time. Anything longer and bad things start to happen around here. Here's what they came up with:

"Oh no it's raining again … "
It's storm season here in Wisconsin. It comes after Winter and around the same time as road-work season. It is extremely important that you protect your hardware (computers, servers, fax machines, etc.) from electrical storm damage. The easiest way to do this is with a good surge protector.

But, beware! Not all are created equally. The $10.00 outlet strips from the hardware store are worth very little in the way of actual protection as they operate on a fuse-type system, which most times can't react fast enough to protect your equipment.

We recommend and sell APC surge protectors. They are designed specifically for computers and electronic equipment and come with a warranty of $5,000 or more. And yes I have personally seen them pay out - on more than one occasion. But, you have to follow their directions and register your products. You can find out more at:  https://www.apc.com/support/service/equipment_protection_policy.cfm
