Chris Stebnitz Receives 2018 Community Leadership Award
Chris Stebnitz was awarded the 2018 Community Leadership Award by the Aurora Health Care Foundation on May 12. It was a great honor for Chris to be a part of the Benefit Ball this year knowing that the proceeds will be going to purchase a Mobile Simulation Laboratory that will be used help prepare pre-hospital providers for field service with realistic equipment. Proceeds will also cover licensing costs, insurance, and the conversion of an ambulance into this innovative lab. It means a great deal to Chris that people who are in life-threatening situations like he was in 25 years ago will receive skilled, life-saving care from the people who bravely respond first in emergencies.
“I would probably not be alive today if it weren’t for the help of a first responder who jumped into action almost 25 years ago. I was ejected from a car after a terrible crash and suffered a severe spinal cord injury. It just so happened, a couple of cars behind us was an EMT. He ran to help and that care I got at the scene was critical in saving my life.”
